Insurance? For My Pet?
Yes! Here’s Why!

We haven’t had the best luck with our pets’ health in the past, but have never had pet insurance. When we brought our new mini Golden Retriever puppy Quinn in for his first puppy well-check, River Valley Veterinary Service made us aware of a 30-day free trial with Trupanion pet insurance. I thought, what the heck, I’ll enroll and decide in 30 days if we really want to keep the insurance. Quinn got a clean bill of health, and I went online and signed up. It only took a couple of minutes.

Fast forward 9 days later, and Quinn was not himself. He was vomiting and very lethargic. We brought him to RVVS where they discovered he was quite anemic. It was getting late in the day and we weren’t sure what was wrong, so we transferred to BluePearl Emergency Vet in Eden Prairie

After numerous tests including a comprehensive ultrasound, it was determined that Quinn had a liver lobe torsion (twist),a rare condition with unknown cause. He was bleeding internally and needed a blood transfusion and emergency surgery, or he would not survive. It is hard for us to say what we would have done if we didn’t have Trupanion. After a successful surgery and 3 nights at BluePearl, Quinn came home. Trupanion paid over $5,800 in expenses for Quinn’s medical care. Our portion (deductible, 10% coinsurance and the cost of initial exams which are not included in the coverage) was a small fraction of that.

We are so grateful for our Trupanion coverage, and that Quinn is a happy, healthy puppy again.
